In the meantime, Montessori teachers, please help us by filling out the survey below — your input matters to us!

Children are the keys to connection, and the teacher-child relationship is crucial to the preservation of the delicate web of interrelation we are in with all beings.

Reimagining Montessori Record-Keeping

Record-keeping and lesson planning are necessary but often frustrating parts of Montessori teaching. We want to understand what works, what doesn’t, and what could be improved—so that these tasks take less time and effort while still serving their purpose.

This short survey is an opportunity to share your insights and challenges. Your input will help shape better tools and methods that work for real classrooms and real teachers.

I believe that children hold the key to many things, including finding connections in the world. Education is my chosen path to rethinking what we as parents, educators and caregivers want our children to learn from their home, daycare and school communities.

My two daughters are the reason that I became an educator. Years ago, when they were toddlers, they helped me to see what we needed in our lives in order to be in a community. I discovered Montessori’s philosophy on children’s development and education when my 2-year-old got kicked out of daycare in Paris, where we lived at the time. She was an inquisitive and alert toddler who did not nap easily. My discovery of how to better support her growth was life-changing for both of us. Early childhood through adolescence is the focus of my energy and has been since I have been raising my two daughters and spent close to 15 years teaching. I support families and educators on the journey of raising our children. We live in a time when we need one another more than ever. Our network of interconnectedness is the framework that can support our children’s holistic growth and development.

My love of education has taken me from France to Italy, to the US, to Hong Kong. It was there that I really settled in and honed my skills in the classroom and with the parents. Watching my two daughters grow up in a multicultural environment taught me so much about how children affect and are affected by their environment.

Back in the US, I love my current work, which is searching for clarity in what we, as parents and caregivers, want our children to learn in their early years at home, in daycare, and in school. Thinking deeply about the community a place such as a school provides, versus what services it delivers, is central to my vision.

There are a variety of holistic approaches to nurturing children’s development and learning to see children as valuable collaborators in the caretaking of our world. Collaborating with parent communities is essential in effecting change in the current path children are put on in their educational journey.

I have begun the work of incorporating my learning into new endeavors, and am excited for the prospect of bringing a more holistic approach to educating our children to a variety of locations, and making it accessible to those who are invested in community building with me!
